Pop music: A quiz. Can you beat AI? Bet you can.

Pop music: A quiz. Can you beat AI? Bet you can.

Hello Everybody,

A little fun for the weekend, along with a business warning. If you know of somebody who uses AI to write their LinkedIn posts  – and of course, none of us would do such a thing, even if encouraged to do so by LinkedIn – perhaps advise them to be cautious.

At the bottom of this article is a pop music quiz you might enjoy. There are fifty questions to attempt, ranging from easy to fiendish.

Below the quiz are Perplexity’s answers to the same questions. AI has not been altogether accurate, as you will see. There are some correct answers and quite an array of incorrect ones, including some right answers that are not necessarily in the right position. However, unless you are Eric Morecambe this is not particularly helpful.

You will find you cannot rely on this impressive piece of kit’s knowledge of pop artists despite its confident delivery. Perplexity has (a) somewhat misunderstood the instructions and (b) given many incorrect answers (some of which are fabulous!).

The motto seems clear, “If you don’t know what you are talking about, don’t assume that AI does.”

There is no substitute – at least not yet – for knowledge, research and application.

Enjoy the quiz and have a great weekend.

Good luck!
