Meet Able's Staff Software Engineer, Hector Danniel Paz Trillo . He gives insight on his experience and what he loves about Able.

Last month, a candidate asked me what I like about working in Able during an interview. I immediately knew the answer: the people. However, that question allowed me to reflect on why I think that way, especially after four years at Able.

In my role, I tend to see flaws in everything tech related. If you tell me that we will introduce a new component or process, I see a new point of failure. Thinking this way has helped me develop in my career, but it's also a burden I will carry for my whole life. However, people in Able have helped me to relieve this burden. If something is unclear to me, they are always willing to help me understand and answer all my questions, and I'm happy to learn from them. In the same way, I can trust them about my concerns, and people are always open to receiving feedback.

And this is not only from my engineering peers; it extends to people in other teams and disciplines. It's part of our culture. And I love when we transmit our culture to our partners. Two weeks ago, I had the chance to be invited by people from one of Able’s partners to a walkthrough of the deployment process of their legacy systems. I was expecting only to be a spectator. Still, some things were not working as planned, so they needed some help. Some years ago, I would not have enough confidence to try to help and probably would find a way to resolve it by myself. But now, I feel backed by our culture to express my ideas, to be more assertive. In the end, these ideas were well received, and we worked together to resolve the issue successfully.

Working at Able has allowed me to grow a lot professionally. I've learned new stuff and accepted interesting challenges while helping our teams build great products. But the people in Able, with their incredible support and trust, have helped me grow as a person.
