Part 1: Barriers to Innovation in the Public Sector
Innovation is becoming increasingly synonymous with the entrepreneurial spirit that is usually abundant in the private sector, making it harder for even the most strategic bureaucratic organizations, to compete with start-ups and private sector entities in their constant search for finding and implementing inspiring new ways to serve their intended audiences and beneficiaries.
Although many bureaucratic organizations, receive generous allocation of resources and funding by the federal, state, or via taxpayer funding, the building blocks of constructive and continuous innovation are difficult to cement. However, there is light at the end of the tunnel, if factors precluding innovation in the public sector are addressed in a timely fashion.
In part 2 of this series of 3 articles, we will decipher some of the barriers to innovation that bureaucracies face, whereas in part 3, we will explore some key solutions that could be applied to overcome these barriers.
