1. Save the date 

Last year we started piloting a new approach to the way we release regulatory guidance. Our last Quarterly Release Announcement Day pilot will be held on February 20, 2025, followed by our Industry Day on March 6, 2025. 

We would like to thank everyone for their feedback on our Quarterly Release pilot. In response to your insights, we are prioritizing Industry Day, which stakeholders have indicated is highly beneficial and we will not provide a stakeholder briefing on the announcement day, February 20. 

We are determining next steps and considering adjustments to its processes, format, and cadence for the way forward. The Annual Risk Outlook, which will be published in April, will have further details.  

Quarterly Release Announcement Day 

On this day, we will issue a public consultation on draft revisions to the Capital Adequacy Requirements (CAR) Guideline 

We will also publish two guidelines and a letter: 

• Capital and Liquidity Treatment of Crypto-asset Exposures – Banking Guideline (2025)  

• Capital Treatment of Crypto-asset Exposures – Insurance Guideline (2025)    

• Final Pillar 3 Disclosure Guidelines on Crypto-asset Disclosures 

• Letter on updates to Guideline B-15: Climate Risk Management 

 All documents will be published to our website.   

Industry Day 

Industry Day gives stakeholders further insight on the Quarterly Release items and the opportunity to ask questions.  

Event and registration details 

• Date: Thursday, March 6, 2025 
• Time: 1 p.m. to 3:45 p.m. ET - you can choose your session(s) of interest  

• Location: Virtual 

• Registration: The Zoom link will be the same for all sessions, giving you the option to choose which session(s) you attend. Once registration closes, you will receive the login information (Zoom meeting link) and any other relevant materials by email. All sessions will be available in both official languages through simultaneous interpretation.

2. Recent OSFI speaking engagement 

RBC Canadian Bank CEO Conference 

Superintendent Peter Routledge recently spoke at the RBC Canadian Bank CEO Conference. There, he answered questions on:  

• mortgages in Canada, including the Minimum Qualifying Rate and loan-to-income ratios 

• the Domestic Stability Buffer  

• the implementation of the Basel III 2017 reforms 

• anti-money laundering 

• foreign interference, including cyber risk
