Notion - One Tool for Life and Business

You never know until you try. It is ongoing process to try various apps and see if they can save time, offload routine or help to store and process tons of information I have to deal with on a daily basis. Apps are on trial from hours to weeks. Real gems stay for longer. Last year I found a gem that is too good to keep it selfishly.

A piece of enterprise software called Notion, that anyone can mold and shape to take on every challenge — from taking personal notes to running a large companies. It offers a digital workplace for taking notes, making to-do lists, creating project management boards, lightweight CRM systems and many more.

So, what is Notion?

Notion is a minimalist organization tool released in 2018 that you can use on desktop or mobile. Notion gives users an all-in-one personal and/or shared workspace for to-do lists, notes taking, calendars, time and project management, habit-tracking and more. Notion offers personal-use accounts for free as well as various paid packages for teams and companies.

I use Notion for life and business to collect, track, process and store information for various projects, sales, marketing and for personal things, like books and travel info.

How to get started on Notion

Here's how to set up a free Notion account:

  1. Check out Notion's site on desktop, or download the app on your mobile device
  2. Sign up with Google, Apple or a separate email address
  3. Choose For Myself - the free version of the software
  4. Click or tap Take Me to Notion

From there, you'll be taken to a Getting Started menu and Notion will give you quick tips to get started with templates. The free version of the software includes templates you can use, add to, edit or delete based on what you're using it for. You can choose from templates like Task List, Journal, Reading List and more. Notion also has a Guides section where you can learn more about customizing your pages for ultimate productivity.

Additionally, you can connect Google Drive, Evernote, Trello and Asana, so everything you need is where you need it to be.

What else is it good for?

Sharing! Notion allows you to share single pages and even create a complete web sites. No need to send regular updates, users will always have access to your up to date information. Organize your club, publish your resume, create portal. Imagination is your only limit.

Teamwork! From collaboration on a single document to a complete tasks or tickets management system, Notion is very good at this. It is so much easier and way more effective than e-mails and files sharing.

Thing to consider

While Notion said they are working on offline, you should be aware that everything is online (on Amazon) at the moment. If you care about privacy as seriously as I do, read more about it here. To work on something offline, just keep this page open before disconnecting from the internet.

Conclusion

Notion is a real time saver in so many situations, related to business and personal life. It's great tool that I use everyday and not only to store some info. And it really helps a lot.
