Nordic APIs Digest #2 / 2025

Hello world,

Hope everyone in the API community is off to a solid start in 2025. We hit the ground running on the blog with a focus that's been big for APIs in recent years - financial services.

As Chris Wood reports, new regulations could have a significant ripple effect on US open banking and expand API reliance in the process. In other regions, we've seen APIs supporting fintech in countless ways. Check out some interesting deep dives into impressive fintech companies in the UK and Nordic regions.

Next, j simpson reviews Treblle 's Anatomy of an API report for key trends, validating much of what we've been covering regarding sprawl, insecurities, and immature standards. One big takeaway was how the rise in AI has exploded API growth. There's been an 807% increase in AI-related APIs since 2023!

Last but not least, today's digest features some excellent posts from new contributors: Joe Joyce , Solutions Architect at SmartBear , explains why great API design and performance supports quality and customer experiences. Cybersecurity journalist Farwa Sajjad looks at the parallels between zero-trust and API security.
