Today I feel compelled to share my sense of gratitude for those who inspire and ignite a sense of belonging and belief in those around them. Identity and family provides primal stability. Then there are brands that build a legacy and legendary history through their consistency and quality.

In my own family, my Mum turns 75 today. A special milestone for a special person. My Mum has always been supportive and loving. She has always been optimistic and positive irrespective the surrounding narrative. This trait alone is inspiring when there is so much negativity in the world.

An organisation unrivalled for performance-under-pressure over many centuries is the Royal Marines. 359 years old today, the Corps has delivered time and time again to protect democracy and freedom around the world. I am privileged to be a member of that illustrious family and to have felt the camaraderie that comes from collaboration in crisis.

Today is also the Rugby World Cup Final between the All Blacks and the Springboks. Two rugby nations with peerless courage, commitment, and an indomitable will to win. Both brands represent way more than the team on the field or the squad on the tour. The brands inspire both countries whose entire populations feel invested in their team. The jersey, the legacy, the emblem and the expectation; these elements build a spirit that transcends sport. The players on these teams today are a credit to their countries and an advert for anyone who wants to believe that your history does not decide your destiny.

I am studying the characteristics of teambuilding which is not an event but a habit. The nexus of the stories above is a special connection that explores a sense of belonging which inspires hope and sets a standard worth seeking no matter your tribe. Together everyone achieves more.
