The new Space Age has arrived – and a new alliance is here to tell its stories

We truly are in a new Space Age. The private space sector has grown rapidly over the last decade, rocket launches and satellite deployment are at an all-time high. Even the public has renewed interest in space thanks to private Missions and the planned return to the Moon.  Space is once more full of stories – and these stories deserve to be told properly.

Thinking galactically, acting locally

In such a crowded and rapidly moving market, every penny and cent spent in this industry requires a communications team to amplify the technological marvel on display. This is where the newly founded  Space Communications Alliance  comes in. The SCA is the first holistic communications network for the sector – bringing together both a knowledge of the industry and expertise in all forms of marketing, public relations, and events management.

“It has been clear to my mind for some time that there was a huge gap in the market for a dedicated network of marketing communications professionals focused entirely on the space sector. This is a market which has been growing in recent years as the space sector has become central to a growing number of countries. Not only is the market itself set to grow at above GDP growth rates but it is a strategic domain for national defence and security, climate change and connectivity.”
Lukasz Wilczynski , President SCA

Richard Merrin  of  Spreckley , added: “The time is right for a network dedicated to the space industry to launch and we are delighted to be one of the founding partners.“

Speaking Space

The Space Communications Alliance (SCA) network is comprised of the world’s leading specialist independent PR and marketing communications agencies in the space sector, bringing together an international and interdisciplinary team of experts who have been at the forefront of the space sector for decades.

Founding members of the Space Communications Alliance are:

Planet Partners (Poland)  Spreckley (UK)  SpaceWatch.Global (Germany)  Perihelion (Austria)  IT Comunicación Iberia (Spain) SpaceSide (Estonia)  RED.comm (Greece)

But what sets the SCA apart from other communication networks?  Remco Timmermans  of  SpaceSide has the simple, but powerful, answer: “We speak space!” Being active members of the industry means understanding the challenges and trends the space sector is facing as a whole. It means understanding the target audiences like no other network can.

“The current founding members of the space communications alliance are all based within Europe, but the goal is going global,” explains  Josep M. Iglesias Huix  of IT Comunicación Iberia . The SCA does not just welcome new clients. “Everyone who is a space communication expert can apply to be a member,”says  Stella Tsitsoula , who, together with  RED.comm colleague Nikos Karanasios , helped form this alliance.

Coming together to bring space closer

SCA President  Lukasz Wilczynski  of  Planet Partners  was the driving force behind the alliance, bringing the founding members together into a joined mission. This is represented in the Logo, designed by  David Delany and Judith Delany  of Perihelion

The concentric rings of the SCA logo embody the solar system, with the planets orbiting the sun, and the alliances commitment to space activities. The rings also represent transmission waves emanating from a source, and the members expertise in communicating on behalf of their clients. Finally the rings represent the unity of our members and partners, as we build this alliance together.

Launch window: #IAC2022

The Space Communications Alliance is ready to launch! And there is no better place to do so than the 73rd International Astronautical Congress, which is being held in Paris, the home of the  European Space Agency - ESA , from 18. – 22. September.

All of the founding members will be at this year’s IAC, one of the biggest space events of the  International Astronautical Federation . To help potential clients and members learn more about the people behind the SCA, fellow member  Torsten Kriening  of  SpaceWatch.Global  invited the heads of all companies and agencies to join him for a special edition of the Space Café Webtalk series “33 Minutes”, which will go live on the 13th of September 2022, 4 pm CET.

The SCA’s network of experienced PR and communications consultants, digital marketing and visual communication specialists will be an invaluable resource for clients in the space and aeronautics technology industry, be that in the public or private arenas.

A resource that might just be what your company, institute or agency is missing.
