Neuroscience for change is one of the newest qualifications from APMG-INTERNATIONAL LIMITED

Having first launched this valuable change management training course last year and seeing the number of attendees grow this year reminds me of the growth of another very popular certification - PRINCE2 which started slow and accelerated.

Initially this project management qualification gave people looking for new roles or applying for promotion a way to stand out from the rest of the crowd. That is exactly what we are seeing with Neuroscience for Change. 

Importance of this certification when job hunting

Time and again I am told by job candidates that they believe the neuroscience qualification has given them an advantage because it is so new they immediately look cutting edge - someone who knows what is trending and someone who is future focused.

Others have described how this new qualification has been a talking point when they have got through to interview. They are being asked about the content and it gives you lots to say about how you will do the job you are applying for, as it is a very practical course.

Ready made interview preparation

To be honest, I know a lot of you find my courses excellent interview preparation, because I challenge you and ask you thought provoking questions about how you would apply what you are learning to your work!

I don't think it is a surprise there is interest about this subject for those who have the certification, because there is so much interest in how we apply being brain-smart at work, especially in a world of artificial intelligence. Value of the Neuroscience for Change certification

One of my favourite comments is "having this certification has sprinkled some scientific stardust on my advice. Senior managers who dismiss change management as training or communications sit up and listen when i describe the impact on the brain of what we are doing."

Next step in the story

So what happens next? Well, with PRINCE2 I vividly remember a shift in the perception of this qualification. It was 2008 and I was sent a beautiful bouquet of flowers because I had trained candidate number 1 million! (There are now approximately 2 million people with this certification).

The future

It was about this time I noticed a change. As far as the job market was concerned, having PRINCE2 on your CV no longer established project managers as cutting edge. So many had the qualification by that point, that the market perception went from "its an added extra" to "its an entry level requirement " - I cannot wait to see when that happens with neuroscience for change!

Being one of the first ones to be qualified is a real cutting edge and not anymore a nice to have. I had a meeting last week with a Senior executive of a pharmaceutical company who told me " Every senior leader should be trained in neuroscience to enable sustainable high performance.". This is exactly what this certification is all about enabling sustainable high performance during times of change without compromising wellbeing. Next available open course is on the 05th and 06th November. I look forward Melanie Franklin MCMI ChMC to deliver it together
