NETWORKING Part 1
How intentional are you with networking? Do you network or not work?
We are going start going through a four-part series on networking. The first step when you look at networking is SMART Goals.en you or your team is going to a networking event, are you going there to network or to not work? There is a fine line between them. When you go intentionally with a SMART Goal in-mind, how many people do I want to engage with? Of that number, how many people are going to be true prospective quality leads or prospective clients? Of that number, how many am I following up with and setting appointments with? Of that number, how many is my goal to turn into paying clients or customers?.. and within what timeframe will they be paying?
When you set all of that up ahead of time, you now have SMART goals and you're going (or your team is going) to a networking event with very specific measurable, achievable, results-focused, with a timeframe goals in-place that you can track and begin to test and measure over time. When you set up SMART goals the right way and you go to truly network you get to walk away with knowing exactly what does this networking event do for my business. Is this a networking event worth the investment of time or are we wasting time going there?
If you are wasting time, you shouldn't keep going. You want to make sure that every networking event you go to becomes profitable for your business; especially those that you pay to go to, which oftentimes, are going to have higher quality leads sitting in front of you.
Make sure that you are intentional. Make sure that you create SMART goals. Make sure that you test and measure exactly what you want to get from a networking event and what you end up with.
