Navigating Road Safety: Transforming Road Design with IRF’s Safe Roads By Design® - Road Safety Audits: From Concepts to Results Training Course

Road safety audits play a crucial role in the Safe System approach, which challenges the belief that deaths and serious injuries on our roads are an unavoidable result of human error. Instead, this innovative framework emphasizes the importance of designing and maintaining roads to actively prevent crashes and to mitigate their severity when they do occur.

In this 5-day, in-person course, participants will gain a practical understanding of how to identify and address road design flaws that contribute to severe injuries and fatalities. The curriculum covers a wide range of road safety engineering solutions, guiding students through the process of analyzing specific site conditions, evaluating relevant technical standards, and selecting the most appropriate safety measures.

Upon successfully completing the workshop, participants will be eligible for either the IRF Road Safety Audit Professional (RSP) Certification or the IRF Road Safety Audit Team Leader (RSATL) Certification. These professional credentials demonstrate advanced expertise in road safety. (Participants must pass the Qualifying Knowledge Exam and demonstrate professional expertise.)
