Navigating EUDR implementation

The European Commission has announced new measures to support a smoother rollout of the EU Deforestation Regulation (EUDR), aiming to ease the transition for companies and national authorities. As the sector increasingly focuses on the practical implementation of the EUDR, Proforest remains committed to supporting companies through practical, implementation-focused solutions. Our latest guidance and partnerships seek to bridge the gap between regulatory commitments and effective action on the ground. From insights into traceability in the Mercosur beef supply chain to simulated compliance pathways for Brazilian soy and beef exporters, these tools can help identify existing systems and opportunities for alignment with EUDR requirements.

Instruments in Mercosur countries to support EUDR compliance in Beef Supply Chains

In collaboration with Solidaridad and the Tropical Forest Alliance, and with support from Program SAFE (Sustainable Agriculture for Forest Ecosystems), this publication provides a regional overview of existing instruments in Argentina, Brazil, Paraguay and Uruguay that can support EUDR compliance in the beef sector.

Drawing on publicly available data and sector-specific reports, the study identifies 15 tools, mostly public and government led, with some private initiatives, that contribute to traceability, legal compliance and supplier monitoring. It highlights common challenges, key stakeholders and opportunities for alignment across the four countries as of February 2025.

Exporters from Brazil and EUDR: beef and soy dry runs

As part of the programme Traceability, Monitoring and Transparency Systems in the Beef and Soy Chains in Brazil, Proforest partnered with JBS, Minerva Foods, Marfrig, AMAGGI and Cargill to explore EUDR readiness through practical dry runs across soy, beef and leather supply chains.

The report presents insights from these exercises, including supplier monitoring systems and traceability from farm to export. Findings are organised around three key areas: geolocation, traceability and segregation; deforestation-free sourcing; and legal compliance.

The publication is available in English and Portuguese.
