My wishlist for improving Notion and Google Workspace integration
Productivity tools like Notion and Google Workspace are popular choices for staying organized in today's remote and hybrid work world. While both offer powerful features, their integration has room for improvement. In this post, I'll discuss three key areas where their integration can be enhanced for a seamless experience.
Enhanced Google Drive integration
There is room for improvement in the integration between Notion and Google Drive. While it is currently possible to embed Google Drive files or folders within Notion, the process can be cumbersome. It would be ideal to have a more seamless integration where we can directly access and edit Google Drive files within Notion. This would eliminate the need to constantly switch between the two platforms and provide a more efficient workflow.
Opening and editing Google Drive files from within Notion would save us a lot of time and effort. We wouldn't have to navigate to Google Drive separately, and could focus on our work without interruptions. Moreover, collaborating in real-time on Google Drive files within Notion would be a game-changer. It would facilitate seamless collaboration between Notion and Google Workspace users, enabling a more inclusive and efficient teamwork experience.
Integrating Google Drive into Notion would significantly boost productivity and improve file organization. With direct access to Google Drive files within Notion, we would be fine with duplicates or outdated versions. We could easily update and manage our files in one central location, streamlining our workflow and ensuring we always have the most up-to-date information.
Furthermore, if we have an improved integration with Google Drive, we could easily import files from Google Drive into Notion while maintaining the formatting and structure of the documents. This would be particularly beneficial when working with complex documents that require collaboration and further editing within Notion. It would eliminate the need for manual recreation of the document layout in Notion and allow for a seamless transition between the two platforms.
Collaboration plays a vital role in both Notion and Google Workspace. However, integrating the two platforms could be improved to allow for real-time collaboration. Users must choose between Notion or Google Workspace to collaborate on a project or document. This limitation can be frustrating, especially when working with team members or clients who prefer different platforms.
Collaboration is an essential part of today's work environment. Imagine a world where Notion and Google Workspace users could collaborate seamlessly in real time, regardless of their chosen platform. This would break down barriers and create a more inclusive and efficient collaboration experience. Whether you are working on a document, spreadsheet, or presentation, the ability to collaborate simultaneously with colleagues using different platforms would revolutionize the way we work together.
Real-time collaboration greatly enhances our work efficiency, communication and teamwork. With real-time collaboration, we can instantly see changes made by others, provide feedback, and work together seamlessly. This eliminates the need for back-and-forth emails or separate collaboration tools, streamlining our workflow and enabling us to accomplish tasks more efficiently.
Picture having the capability to have live discussions and video conferences within Notion itself, utilizing Google Workspace's communication and collaboration tools. This would remove the need to switch between various platforms and streamline collaboration. Whether it's discussing project specifics, brainstorming ideas, or providing real-time feedback, having these abilities within Notion would significantly enhance our collaboration experience.

Two-way calendar integration
I heavily rely on calendars for scheduling and planning, and a two-way calendar integration between Notion and Google Workspace would be incredibly valuable. You can sync your Google Calendar with Notion, but it is a one-way sync. This means that any updates made in Google Calendar are reflected in Notion, but changes made in Notion's calendar do not sync back to Google Calendar.
Have you ever thought about how much easier it would be if there was a two-way calendar integration between Notion and Google Calendar? With such integration, any changes made in one calendar would automatically reflect in the other, making it easier to manage schedules and ensure up-to-date information across both platforms. This would help us be more productive and organized by allowing us to add events, make changes and set reminders on either calendar, without having to worry about manually syncing them.
Having a two-way calendar integration would be highly beneficial for us, as it would help us save time and avoid scheduling conflicts. With this feature, we can easily add, modify, or delete events in either Google Calendar or Notion, and the changes will be automatically updated in both platforms. This would give us peace of mind and allow us to stay organized, enabling us to focus on our tasks and achieve our goals without worrying about missing important events or appointments.
Moreover, the two-way calendar integration could also offer additional features, such as the ability to set up automated reminders or notifications for important events or deadlines. This would help us stay on track and ensure that we never miss any critical dates. Additionally, having the option to view and manage our calendars within Notion, without the need to switch to Google Calendar, would provide a more streamlined and efficient experience.
Conclusion
I use both Notion and Google Workspace, and I'm always looking for ways to make my workflow more efficient. Improving the integration between these two platforms would greatly benefit users like me. Better Google Drive integration, real-time collaboration, and two-way calendar integration would make Notion and Google Workspace a more seamless and efficient experience for users.
Just imagine a world where accessing and editing Google Drive files is possible without leaving Notion. You can collaborate in real-time with your colleagues using different platforms, and have a synchronized calendar that updates across both Notion and Google Workspace. This would be a revolutionary change in the way we work and help us stay organized and efficient.
I’m hopeful that these improvements will be considered and implemented in the future, making the integration between Notion and Google Workspace even better. Let's envision a future where these two powerful tools work together seamlessly, empowering us to achieve our goals and maximize our productivity.
