My Summer Experience at Marsh McLennan!

My Summer Experience at Marsh McLennan!

During my internship at Marsh McLennan as an Operations Account Coordinator, I sharpened my financial analytical skills, improved operational efficiency, and forged meaningful connections.

Marsh McLennan, a global leader in insurance broking and risk management, provided an ideal environment for hands-on experience. I delved into client data, conducted extensive financial analysis, and prepared detailed reports. This experience deepened my expertise in financial modeling, risk assessment, and data interpretation, equipping me to provide strategic insights crucial for client account management.

One critical project was the Audit project, where I led efforts to review and enhance client files. We developed a system for document retrieval, incorporating advanced tools and procedures. By customizing communications for specific documents, we improved the efficiency and accuracy of our audits, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.

We also integrated Len-AI, an advanced artificial intelligence tool, into our audit process. This involved researching and identifying critical keywords and data points to optimize Len-AI for document retrieval and data management. This innovation automated the retrieval of state-specific information, significantly improving filing efficiency in account coordination, invoicing, data placement, proof of insurance, and surplus work.

Another significant project was overhauling the Surplus Lines team's Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). I led an analysis of existing procedures, identifying inefficiencies such as inaccessibility, disorganization, and lack of uniformity. Collaborating with colleagues, we developed a standardized template and detailed instructions for each state's SOP. This ensured compliance and enhanced departmental efficiency.

Moreover, my in-depth financial analysis of client portfolios involved interpreting complex financial statements, assessing risk profiles, and preparing analytical reports, providing critical insights for strategic decision-making in client account management. This work reassured me of my ability to make strategic findings based on thorough analysis.

Beyond technical skills, my internship allowed me to build meaningful connections with colleagues and clients. Collaborating in cross-functional teams and participating in client meetings provided me with valuable networking opportunities. I gained insights into industry practices and client needs by engaging with senior professionals and peers. These interactions not only enriched my understanding of the business but also fostered professional relationships that will endure beyond my internship. I learned the importance of effective communication, teamwork, and the value of diverse perspectives in solving complex problems.

Overall, my internship at Marsh McLennan was a transformative experience. It significantly enhanced my professional competencies, allowed me to develop interpersonal skills, and formed connections that will undoubtedly contribute to my future career success. This opportunity not only deepened my understanding of the insurance and risk management industry but also provided a solid foundation for my future endeavors in finance.
