My Journey of Embracing Parenthood While Nurturing a Startup
Becoming a parent is an enchanting rollercoaster ride, and welcoming twins into my life, while equally enthralling, amplified this journey twice over. My heart swells with joy every time I see my little ones, and yet, running my startup alongside this magical chaos is its own kind of thrilling journey. It's like balancing two universes - one where I'm a loving parent and another where I'm the dedicated founder.
Being blessed with twins, I quickly found that my weekends turned into never-ending marathons of diapers, feeding, playing, and soothing. But despite the exhaustion, the happiness they bring to my life is unparalleled. During weekdays, my world is enveloped by the fast-paced rhythm of my startup, only coming up for air when the clock strikes 6pm. At this point, it's time for my precious kiddos to come under my care, creating a balancing act that's as challenging as it is fulfilling.
In the midst of this, I've had to learn to use my time wisely, and yes, I've learned it the hard way. If work spills over beyond 6pm, it stays there, unfinished. The twins need me, and their joyous little smiles make every dropped task worth it. But it doesn't mean the work doesn't need to get done. Instead, I've found I have to supercharge my efficiency during the day.
I've discovered that my desire to pull extra hours isn't as necessary as I once believed. Instead, my ability to stay focused and streamline tasks allows me to get the job done. Parenthood has shown me the value of every minute, and this lesson has spilled over into my work life as well.
Distractions are an enemy in my battle for efficiency. Recently, I asked my Executive Assistant, Sofi, to hold off on communications until I completed two to three important tasks. It was a lightbulb moment where I recognized the extent of my distractibility. It’s absolutely crucial to carve out focus time, or else tasks spill into the sacred family hours - a situation that's neither fair to me, nor to my children.

Sofi, my EA, has become my personal time-saving superhero. She helps streamline tasks, organize my priorities, and bridges the communication between various departments. Having someone who understands your pace and can distribute responsibilities effectively is a game changer.
But amidst all the work and parenting, it’s important not to forget about personal well-being. For me, taking short breaks, usually about 10-15 minutes, is a perfect little escape. And what better way to spend these breaks than playing with my little ones? It's a refreshing mental switch that never fails to put a smile on my face.
In conclusion, leading a startup while being a dedicated parent is a challenging yet rewarding ride. It requires discipline to remove distractions, efficient delegation, prioritizing critical tasks, and remembering to take breathers. At the end of the day, it's all worth it when I see the growth of my company and the smiles on my children's faces. And with the help of my wonderful partner Nicole and our support network, I'm confident we're building a promising future for our family and our business.
