Money 20/20 Europe: key take-backs

Money 20/20 Europe: key take-backs

The digital payment industry.

There is no other place in the world I'd rather be in.

The abundance of innovative, disruptive technologies ... and we've only scratched the surface of what's to come in the next 5-10 years.

Rubbing shoulders with some of our industries' most influential players and sharp minds, I've enjoyed comparing notes, listening and having an opportunity to articulate our vision.

Pretty much everything-we-do carries a payment consideration.  And there is a real thirst for simple, fast, secure, relevant solutions.  Long are the days of technology looking for a problem to solve.

I see value creation in big data allowing companies to "mass customize" their offerings, using technology to recreate the old feeling of dealing with the owner of a small store or restaurant that knows your needs and preferences, and truly cares about your customer satisfaction.

I see mobile bringing an unprecedented level of convenience into our every-day life, and service providers using it to gain a sustainable competitive advantage, nurturing loyalty and expanding business in new areas seemingly unthinkable.

I see technology helping me send $100 to a relative around the globe, as easily and safely as I'm publishing this post.  And I see it making it easier for regulators to achieve the transparency, compliance and audit-ability they require.

I see emerging areas with incredible potential to bring consumers the convenience, speed, cost-effectiveness and security they demand. And companies responding to that challenge with great new products.

Granted, some evolving areas are still maturing. I was reading the analogy of Napster leading the way for iTunes' incredible success, and Bit Torrent doing the same for Netflix in video streaming ... what will blockchain lead the way to?

It's both an intriguing and fascinating world we have the chance to live in.  One day, we'll all tell our grand-children that we were involved, in a profound manner, at the onset of revolutionary technologies, the stuff science-fiction was made of, a short while back.

So, as I pack my clothes and electronics here in Copenhagen, I know that my Paysafe colleagues and I will continue to find ways to "make life simpler" for and bring together consumers, merchants and partners.

It's back to the trenches, now. :-)
