MENTORSHIP
Do you already have a mentor or aspiring to get one?
Read this!
The role of mentorship in the quest to fulfilling destiny cannot be overemphasized. It gives speed and accuracy on the long road of uncertainties you travel on in the fulfillment of destiny.
However, most of us see mentorship as a gamble!
We are very swift to ask every amazing person we see out there to mentor us for our selfish interests only. This is evident in the way we treat that person once we have gotten what we want.
For this exact reason of not wanting to feel USED, many of these mentors are wearing bulletproofs against new mentees.
Another pressing reason is the silent demon called SEE FINISH!
Your mentor may have unraveled himself or herself to you, strategies that have helped him or her grow, his network of friends and lots more.
On the strength of this newly found information it is easily paves the way for pride to dominate.
Then you gradually loose regard for that mentor and begin to see yourself as equals and move from calling him "sir" to "bro", "ma" to "dear".
In the words of Stephen Kendrick "Almost every sinful action ever committed can be traced back to selfish motive. It is a trait we hate in other people but justify in ourselves"
How then do you build a lasting mentorship relationship?
1) Check your motives, Why do you want a mentor?
2) What value can you bring to the table? Service in itself is an expressway to a profitable relationship.
No man wants a parasite.
3) Take time to study deeply the principles of honor and consciously fight the demon of SEE FINISH.
4) Begin to reach out with possible ways you can help the person. Be willing to help regardless of who gets the credit.
5) Ensure that you tell your mentor from time to time how much you value and respect the person, a good gift would be a perfect idea.
You CAN at this point send an apology message to that mentor you treated badly or send a note of appreciation to that amazing mentor or someone you admire.
