Fresh from campus, most of us carry a world view which may not exactly reflect how the world works.

The idealists in us would love to change the world....

The world has been around for long ;too long, to compare our lifespans.

Even those who changed the world somewhat, did so by understanding how it worked and then changing it from inside.

My point is not about being an idealist or not, its more about paradigms and the paradigm shifts that are required to unlearn and relearn.

This video shows Stephen Covey, the author of iconic book 7 habits of highly effective people, talking about paradigms and their importance in our own growth.



What map are we holding? Is it the right map? Do we know how to read the map?

This is why humility becomes important. Humility coupled with curiosity is a powerful combination to learn, unlearn and relearn our path to fulfillment.

In this context, I would like to share the video titled "The Pale Blue Dot" by legendary Carl Sagan. This video and its message puts us in the right perspective.

Finally, staying curious and willing to learn is a mindset. It can be developed if we train our minds in a certain way. A whole enterprise has thrived on this! We can too...

Embracing the Always Day 1 mindset...we remain curious, humble and willing to learn from everybody, every situation and grow in the process

Day 2 on the other hand could mean complacency...or worse ..."I know all" attitude... that is stasis followed by irrelevance followed by excruciatingly painful decline and finally death.

How many so called "35 years experience" people have we come across - whose Day 1 mistakes repeated over and over 12774 times? And how they have tumbled when the first disruption hit them!

Let's stay humble; let's learn willingly and focus on building the brand of trustworthiness, value addition and service. And it will be Day 1 for ever.

Let's talk more about certain career dilemmas by taking a fast forward view later.
