The Leap from Tech to Owning this Campground

In July 2020, Joe Caprio and I (that's me above, Kim Lindquist ) were floating down the Deschutes River in Bend, Oregon—pilsners in hand, dogs swimming nearby. As groups of families drifted by, we started daydreaming: What if we built something together that let us live our life outside, on the water, with the people (and dogs) we love?

That dream wasn’t new. In 2018, we got married at a summer camp, hosting 200 of our friends and family for a weekend in the woods. Everyone pitched in to make it the best weekend, and that sense of community stayed with us.

Then life hit us hard. Joe lost his dad to cancer. Months later, my mom was diagnosed. We left the West Coast and moved home to Boston, knowing how precious time really is. I left my job at Amazon to care for my mom, who passed away last year.

Grief gave us clarity. We wanted a life rooted in family and the outdoors, and we wanted to build something bigger than us.

So when we found a riverside campground in Southern New Hampshire, we leapt. Suncook River Camp became a reality: a place to gather, slow down, and create memories outside.

We’re not experts in camping or construction, but we know we’re building something big. Year two is here, and we’d love to share our river with you. We hope you'll stop by for a weekend escape or just an afternoon on the river. - Kim Lindquist & Joe Caprio

I’ve been, (not because Joe is one of my best friends, I actually like Kim more 😜) and it’s amazing. Highly recommend making the quick trip to visit. We can’t wait to come back this summer!

Love this for you -- congrats on making the move and pursuing your happiness. The themes of caregiving, love, and making the most of everyday hit me hard and to the core. Can't wait to read more about your adventures! Joe Caprio
