Leaked Hacking Team spyware used for cyber espionage.

The spyware from the Italian company Hacking Team was stolen at the company in 2015 and has been published online by a group of cyber spies to attack Internet users. That leaves the Finnish anti-virus firm F-Secure today announced in a report.


The hacker group called Callisto and perform phishing attacks to gain access to webmail accounts. Also sends the group via hacked email accounts malicious documents. These documents added malware, but that is not performed by default. Users must first click on the embedded file in the document. Word then displays a warning that opening the file may cause harm to your computer. If the user "Ok" be performed malware.


The malware appears to be a variant of the Scout tool, which is part of the Remote Control System (RCS) hacking platform Hacking Team. The attacker hacked the Italian company in 2015 published the source code and install software from RCS platform on the Internet.


According to F-Secure, the attackers used the installation software to create their own version of the RCS platform. The Scout tool acts as a backdoor and allows attackers gather information on the attacked system and install additional malware.


Callisto The group has provided military personnel, government officials, think tanks and journalists in Europe and the Southern Caucasus. It is especially sought information relating to foreign and security policy in Eastern Europe and the Southern Caucasus. According Erka Koivunen F-Secure show attacks the Hacking Team spyware that use of such surveillancesoftwware is not without risks, and also by cybercriminals use of this leakage of such tools. "This would enable authorities to remind you that we have no monopoly
