Leader training vs. Manager training
Wherever you lead from, we can help you manage it. Management and leadership training can both be done through an LMS, but before you build it—you must figure out who should come.
Investing in learning
Management training feels as common as compliance training because, in a lot of ways, they’re similar. Both are things you need to do to keep a functional, safe company.
Management training is about tactical needs. Managers organize people and processes to accomplish specific tasks, coordinating actions to achieve set goals. When training managers your focus needs to be on goal setting, appropriate use of authority, and workflow.
Leadership training, on the other hand, doesn’t necessarily include managers. It is a great way to invest in your staff to build managers, and people within your teams to create strategic vision. These are the folks who ask, “Where are we going and why?”
Effective leadership requires skills like emotional intelligence, self-awareness, and the ability to influence. Managers who embrace these qualities can excel at being leaders – and leaders who showcase their ability to creatively organize people can either be managers or grow into these roles. Both create a supportive, purpose-driven work environment, benefiting individual performances and organizational culture.
One way to build a strong leadership program is to create career pathing for leaders within your company who may not yet be managers. This process can build competent managers, encourage retention, and build engagement.
