Keen to do teacher training but not sure where to start?
There’s no doubt that being a teacher is one of the most rewarding and influential jobs you can do. It gives you the ability to be a significant part of a child’s improvement and success, helping them to become valuable members of society. You can make change happen, be part of improving education in the country and help children to reach their full potential.
The demand for good teachers has increased considerably in the last few years, just read my article ‘Staff Recruitment and Retention in Education’ where I explore this topic in detail. The importance of retaining good teachers and upskilling them has never been more important as it’s a great way to encourage them to stay in your school whilst also ensuring they align with your ethos.
At Guide Education, we are committed to helping schools achieve just that. We work with over 360 schools in the Uk, as well as with schools and groups in countries such as China, Pakistan, India, Vietnam and many more.
Our mission has always been to help end the crisis in teacher shortages and improve the futures of students everywhere. Many of us in the team are all former school leaders, so this mission plays a huge role in every decision we make at Guide.
We are achieving this mission through our innovative training tools and brilliant content. Our unique video learning platform offers a range of UK accredited qualifications to help teachers of all stages become qualified teachers for schools, colleges and training institutions.
Our areas of development cover the following:
- Starting your school career - Explores the skills you need to succeed as a teacher, the day-to-day role of a teacher and role in the classroom. We have a number of courses which includes not just PGCE-style content for different levels of education but also practical advice such as how to be an English, Maths or Science teacher as well as exploring the fundamental tips all teachers need.
- School compliance - Covering all aspects of safeguarding including; recognising, responding, referring, recording and checks and disclosures. This is an important part of working with others but can be an additional cost- we include this free in our offer.
- Accreditations - Whether you are looking to qualify as a TA, Beginner Teacher or higher, staff can now train remotely using our systems to interact with Gold standard University training without the hassle of travel.
- Developing leadership potential - Leadership in a school takes many forms. SENDCO, Teaching and Learning, Pupil Premium, Middle Leader and Principal are just some of the courses which we include to help ensure your staff are ready to lead in your school. What’s more, our online portfolio feature enables senior leaders to track, comment and develop that staff member in a way which is unique to Guide schools.
Guide Education has recently worked with a SEN school which had a tight budget and was short on the experienced staff it needed. We mentored a number of staff who required QTS accreditation throughout the process, enabling leaders in the school to focus on other key areas of school development Not only did the staff qualify but we are now working with further QTS and HLTA candidate in the next academic year.
Our training courses can also be an effective way to retain good staff and truly develop them within the ethos of the school. Guide Education worked with a North London Secondary school to help develop five excellent teaching assistants into excellent teachers. Again, using our various courses and asynchronous mentoring, the school were able to not only truly track their progress but use the portal’s features to share best practice with other staff. This has now lead to the school creating their own best practice unit on their personalised Guide platform to enhance the performance of all staff.
