Instagram is not going to be so instant anymore
In case you did not see the news recently – Instagram is making a change to how we see the posts in our Instagram feed.
This means they will be showing the posts on a relevance score basis now as opposed to a chronological method. It will use algorithms to personalize users’ feeds based on their interests and relationships, rather than showing photos in chronological order.
What will change?
How you see the content from your connections. According to a blog on Instagram, “The order of photos and videos in your feed will be based on the likelihood you’ll be interested in the content, your relationship with the person posting and the timeliness of the post.”
They will still show you all the posts but they will be in different order, changing to the Facebook-like method now which means showing you what they ‘think’ you want to see more than seeing the content based on date and time posted. For some people it works, for others it means you may miss some of the content you don’t always interact with all the time. Some days it is fun to see something you don’t always see. It won’t be a huge change and should not really affect a lot of people, but will annoy some for sure.
Good news is that Facebook is also making changes that should help business – one of them being the new Facebook LIVE -a way to share real-time video directly from your smartphone.
This will allow your viewers to see whatever your phone’s camera is filming. While you can’t see or hear the people who are watching, your audience can type messages to you in real time.
