Innovation during construction

Shakespeare once wrote there’s no world without Verona walls. Well, at Long Branch GO Station, ongoing service amid construction can be achieved thanks to the Verona System.

A new pedestrian tunnel is being dug out under live tracks at Long Branch GO as part of our ongoing efforts to expand GO Transit across the region. In times past, this would have required shutting down those tracks for months, causing major disruptions for commuters. But engineering innovations like the Verona System keep you moving as construction continues.

Union Station expansion

Alongside expanding GO Transit, we’re also making key upgrades to the busiest transit station in the country. Hundreds of thousands of people pass through Toronto’s Union Station every day. It’s a critical hub for commuters, connecting them to GO Trains, GO Buses, the PATH, TTC and more.

As the region continues to grow, better access to transit becomes increasingly vital. The work we’re doing at Union Station will bring more tracks, faster trains and more frequent service, just to name a few enhancements.

Looking underground with LiDAR

How does one dig a subway tunnel under a busy, populated city, without hitting sewer lines, building foundations, underground cabling and other buried treasures? It takes careful planning – and help from technology like LiDAR.

LiDAR is stands for Light Detection and Ranging. Like the name suggests, it’s a system that uses light to measure distances and create a detailed 3D map of the surrounding environment its used in. It’s almost like a radar that uses a laser pulse instead

Lost treasures

With thousands of commuters traveling with GO Transit and UP Express on a daily basis, it’s inevitable some possessions, valuable or not, may be forgotten. It’s happened to the best of us, but we’re here to help.

We’ve put together a handy guide on exactly how our Lost and Found team operates, how you can reclaim a lost item, what happens to items that are never claimed and some surprising items that have arrived at the Lost and Found office – including an eight-foot tall stuffed frog. (Yes, really!)

Happy Lunar New Year!

For millions around the world and here in Canada, Lunar New Year is a time of deep cultural significance. With the Year of the Snake upon us, we want to make it easier than ever to celebrate and enjoy the best of Asian culture and cuisine.

It’s been months since the track segments were installed and as of 07:13 today this is as much of the tunell that’s been dug. It’s really not good enough
