IBM Bluemix Infrastructure and VMware: a unique combination
How does your organization’s IT environment gain more flexibility and scalability? Right, by moving to the Cloud. Thanks to the combination of IBM Bluemix and VMware, the journey to the Cloud was never easier.
IBM Bluemix offers a single dashboard to customers to manage infrastructure and cloud services. This way, Bluemix is more than only a PAAS solution. Customers who log in to Bluemix are able to order Bluemix Infrastructure: anything from bare metal to virtual servers.
For over ten years already, IBM Bluemix Infrastructure - formerly known as SoftLayer - offers bare metal servers as cloud servers, with the possibility of having VMware ESX as hyper visor. The close partnership between IBM and VMware opens the door to the complete VMware stack on IBM Bluemix Infrastructure. The customer manages the environment from a single console and receives a single invoice per month. No long-term commitment is required, making it an ideal solution for testing or handling peaks, adding the flexibility and scalability the organization needs.
IBM Bluemix Infrastructure offers the possibility to have a fully functional VMware environment up and running within 12 hours. The offering includes VMware Cloud Foundation (4 bare metal servers running VMware vSphere, vCenter, NSX and vSAN with a capacity of 170 VMs at 2 vCPUs, 8GB memory and 70GB disk space) and VMware vCenter Server (1 bare metal server running VMware vSphere, available in small mode (12 cores) or big mode (64 cores). Both solutions include management snapshots, automated provisioning and the possibility to expand the environment.
