How much do you want it?
How much “badly” do you want it? A question that was often asked when we were children. I recall the last two weeks leading up to Christmas with all of the presents under tree, wanting, rather willing for time to move faster. What desires (goals) do you have in your life now? Write them down. What would you be willing to do, willing to sacrifice, willing to set aside, to reach these goals? Write them down as well.
Do you have the desire and willingness to endure? Think of a child who desired something and “threatened” to hold their breath until they received the desire outcome. Ask yourself, did the child make an ideal threat, or were they all in? If the child did hold their breath, were they so committed, so determined, so focused, that they overcame the body’s response for the desire to breathe resulting?
Are you willing to endure beyond failure? Think of the typical person who trains with weights. As they set out to push a muscle to neurological and muscular failure, how many of them endure through the pain and achieve neurological and muscular failure? On a similar note, what do you think the outcome would be if someone was blindfolded and asked to lift an unknown weight? I have personally witnessed people increase their maximum lift by 20+% simply by not knowing the weight they were being challenged with. Why? They were not encumbered by a mental barrier of knowing the weight, but rather focused on the task at hand.
