How Much Do Google Ads Cost?

How Much Do Google Ads Cost?

The last article in my Mastering Google Ads series is: How much do Google Ads cost?

Budget constraints can have many companies worrying about Google Ads burning a hole in their pockets. So, let me cut to the chase – the cost of your Google Ads will depend on a couple of factors; primarily, your industry and your strategy. You could spend just a couple of dollars to see results, and sometimes, you’ll end up spending thousands of dollars.

If you’ve been following this series, you’ll recall the article on how Google Ads work, where I spoke about bidding for keywords, ad creation, and ad ranking. The cost of your ad clicks will depend on the bid you’ve placed on your keywords and the quality of your ad. While larger companies can place bigger bids on competitive keywords, the quality score can enable even the smallest players to compete.

The combination of your bid and quality score decide your ad rank. The higher your ad rank, the higher the chances of your ad to be ranked on the SERP. Your ad cost will work out based on your ad rank.

Of course, there are other factors that have an impact on your ad cost. These can be the type of ads, the device you’re targeting, the time of day you want your ads to appear, the geographical location, etc.

All that aside, what really matters is your industry. Certain industry verticals like dental services, accounting, or legal are competitive in Google Ads, which translates to higher costs per click (CPC) and costs per lead (CPL). This is because the yield from just one click in this industry is quite high, say in comparison to entertainment or arts,

Your costs would also vary depending on the length of your customer lifecycle and current trends in the industry.

The important aspect to consider is: Is your ROI greater than your Google Ads spend? If the answer is yes, then your ads don’t cost you anything at all!

There are many ways to improve your ROI, such as lowering your cost per click, improving your landing page, or even buckling up your sales process. Nevertheless, if you’re not adept at forecasting, you may not get the results you want from your PPC (Pay-Per-Click) ads.
