Prof. Jeffrey Lees , Assistant Professor of Organizational Behavior in the Faculty of Economics and Business at the University of Groningen , shares key insights from his compelling research titled: “Breaking Free from Belief Traps: How Misconceptions Shape Organizational and Environmental Outcomes.”

In this work, Prof. Lees delves into how deeply held - but often inaccurate - beliefs influence decision-making within organizations and broader environmental systems. His research explores the psychological mechanisms behind these belief traps, their impact on group dynamics, strategic choices, and long-term organizational health, and how recognizing and addressing them can lead to more effective leadership, communication, and sustainable outcomes.

His research utilizes experimental methods to study belief traps how inaccurate beliefs drive negative outcomes for organizations, the environment, and politics. He examines the psychological and social roots of belief traps, their role in organizational inaction and political conflict, and strategies to counter them through targeted interventions.

Prof. Jeffrey Lees earned his Ph.D. in Organizational Behavior and Psychology from Harvard Business School . He later served as a Visiting Professor at Clemson University and as an Associate Research Scholar at Princeton University .
