How to fix a pipe?
PROLOGUE
This is somehow a continuation of an article I wrote back in 2018, a short update about life and an exciting project I am working on.
The article is about bad experiences with recruiters and other stuff. Today re-reading it, I still feel, mostly, the same way (goes without saying that there are some of them doing a great job).
Regarding the update about life, to keep it short, I have been trying to stay motivated with what I am doing. On one hand, I did a Bootcamp, met lots of amazing people, not without suffering got my first programming job, learned a lot, pandemic hit (like for everyone else), and found a new opportunity. In summary, I have been coding for almost 2 years, and regarding experiences with recruiters not much has changed. Maybe I get contacted more often these days. On the other hand..., keep reading, please.
THE WHAT (the other hand explained)
My friend Joan already spilled the beans in his article, but he is trying to make tech recruitment better, and I am trying to help him. Mostly with strategy and tech-related decisions. He is definitely my work husband 👨✈️
THE WHY
- Job hunting is dreadful, from every angle (and position) you look at it, and someone should try to do something about it.
- Improving sectors that have not changed much, using technology, is something that really motivates me (😉 Haddock).
- Because we can, we have the experience, the network, the energy, and now the means with JobFluent.
THE HOW
We are working on it steady but surely. More to come on that, but some keys would be:
- We think that it is about people connecting with people, so we want to build relationships with them across the board.
- There are no bad candidates, just some that are ready for certain positions and some that not yet, but with hard work and some help can get there.
- Applying to new opportunities and considering change, can feel lonely. We are here to hold hands, provide guidance, get the feedback deserved.
- There are plenty of cool companies out there that do not get enough cool candidates, and that is not cool.
- There are some companies that are not so cool, so we rather steer away from those.
- We feel like transparency is underrated, and we have some interesting ideas to shake it all up a bit.
CALL TO ACTION
I read somewhere that every good article needs to end with a call to action. Here is mine: keep us in mind when looking for a tech job. Easy, right?
Until the next time...
