How do creators really feel about AI?

AI is becoming more and more prevalent in the creator economy, introducing both challenges and untapped opportunities. It has gotten to the point where brands and creators are sprinkling around the word 'AI' whether AI is involved...or not.

Earlier this week, Creator Now - an online learning community for rising digital filmmakers and creators - shared its in-depth report focusing on How Creators Really Feel About AI. Creator Now surveyed 2,200 creators and uncovered some pretty interesting insights that have to be shared.

What AI tools are creators using?

Creator Now reports that 90% of creators are using ChatGPT during their content creation process. For example, YouTubers may depend on ChatGPT for video content ideas, scriptwriting, putting together SEO-friendly YouTube video descriptions, and even optimizing titles for older videos.

What is the major benefit of using AI tools in the content creation process?

A majority of the creators surveyed - almost 90%! - shared that 'increased speed' is one of the major benefits when using AI tools. More and more creators are using AI tools during the creative process in order to make content faster

What is the disadvantage of using AI tools in the content creation process?

Content creators have noted that one of the biggest disadvantages when using AI tools is that they become overly reliant on AI. 47% of the creators surveyed shared that it has become harder to undergo the content creation process without the use of AI tools (but, if AI tools are only becoming, well, smarter and more prevalent, then content creators won't need to create AI-less content).

So, with the help of AI tools, content creators are pushing out content at a faster rate. But, what do creators think about the quality of the AI-heavy content creation process and the final product? Interestingly, Creator Now shared that only 29% of creators have reported concern over the quality of AI-generated work and 21% of those surveyed believe that AI may limit creativity down the line.

Whether you like it or not, AI is not only here to stay but will likely continue growing in significance. In order for content creators (and brands!) to keep up, they will need to adopt the AI tools that give them the best results - the highest quality, easy to incorporate into the workflow, straightforward interface, and honestly, features that the creator and brand can't imagine living without.

But, AI tools can't just sit back and relax. In order to become crucial pieces in the content creation process, they need to understand what users need most from them. Creator Now's report highlights that 36% of creators need more training or education in order to harness AI tools effectively and 23% reported a need for more user-friendly AI tools. At the end of the day, AI tools are only beneficial if they are being used and depended on.
