How to Deal with Life When Things Don’t Go to Plan

How to Deal with Life When Things Don’t Go to Plan

Do you know those moments where you had a plan, you executed it, and yet things did not work out the way you planned?

How do you react in those moments? Do you get frustrated, irritable, exasperated, stressed out do you stay calm, not feel phased, and just able to be with the situation?

I definitely have moments on both sides of the coin.

Today just as I finished wrapping up the latest episode of This Humean Life called ‘How to Create a New Reality’, my hosting platform stopped working. I felt frustrated in that moment, as I was super excited, and to be clear still am, to share this episode with you. This is the most powerful episode yet.

Now I had a choice, I could either stay frustrated or look at what I could do. Now the obvious thing I could do was to reach out for help, and I did do that too, but it was not my first step. First, I CHOSE to give up the frustration because I could see that staying frustrated was not going to magically resolve the problem.

When I emailed the platform for support around the issue they quickly auto replied to say there will be delays due to short staffing at this time. This was another chance to be frustrated if I chose. But rather than take on frustration, I was reminded of a mantra a friend of mine shared recently:

‘Can you do anything about it?’ ‘Yes!’ ‘Then why worry?’

‘Can you do anything about it?’ ‘No!’ ‘Then why worry?’

It's a very simple thought but these simple thoughts can be powerful, because as you will see in detail in ‘How to Create a New Reality’ the key to doing so is thought.

I invite you to look: How often do you choose to stay frustrated when something does not go the way you planned it?

Ask yourself: Can I touch frustration? No, then is frustration REAL or is it just MADE OF THOUGHT?

My invitation to you today is to notice anytime you feel frustration creeping in, and to ask yourself this simple mantra ‘Can I do anything about it?’. Independently of whether the answer is ‘yes’ or ‘no’, the conclusion remains: ‘Then why worry’?'

If you have ever got frustrated when things don't go as planned, then comment below or reach out privately. And don’t worry I will be sure to let you know when I can share with you in more depth ‘How to Create a New Reality’.
