How to Create an AI Assistant for Your Instagram Page with Make.com

Every business aims to enhance customer interaction and boost efficiency through automation. One effective strategy is to implement AI Assistants for automated responses to comments and inquiries. This approach enables you to deliver quick customer service, generate leads, and increase user engagement without the need for continuous manual oversight.

In this tutorial, we'll guide you through creating an Instagram AI Assistant using Make.com and ChatGPT. This setup will allow you to respond intelligently to user comments based on predefined parameters. Additionally, you can adapt this method for other platforms such as X (formerly Twitter), LinkedIn, or Facebook.

Let’s get started!

Step 1: Setting Up an Account on Make.com

(If you already have a make.com account, you can skip to step 2)

  • Visit the Make.com Website: Go to Make.com.
  • Sign Up: Click on the "Sign Up" button at the top right corner of the homepage.
  • Fill in Your Details: Provide your email address, create a password, and fill in any other required information.
  • Verify Your Email: Check your email inbox for a verification email from Make.com and click on the verification link.
  • Log In: After verifying your email, log in to your new Make.com account.

Step 2: Creating a Scenario on Make.com

  • Access the Dashboard: Once logged in, go to your Make.com dashboard.
  • Create a New Scenario: Click the "Create a new scenario" button.

Step 3: Creating the Modules for the AI Assistant

Modules are the main building blocks of automation in Make. The AI Assistant would be built using 3 modules:

  • Add Instagram Module: Click the "+" button on the scenario page to add a module. Search for and select the Instagram Business, and select the watch event.
  • Add ChatGPT Module: Click the "+" button on the scenario page to add a module. Search for and select the GPT, and select Create completion type.
  • Add Instagram Module: Click the "+" button on the scenario page to add a module. Search for and select Instagram Business, and select send a Reply.

Step 4: Setting Up the Instagram Webhook

First, we have a webhook linked to the Instagram API. This webhook is set up to watch for comments on your Instagram posts. When it detects a new comment, it will feed that information into ChatGPT-4. To set it up:

  • On the Instagram Business module, click the Create Webhook
  • Click Create a connection.
  • Fill in the login details of your Facebook (or Instagram account)

Step 5: Configuring ChatGPT

Initial Setup

In ChatGPT module,

  • Click a connection
  • Add the OpenAI API Key
  • Add the organization id
  • Setup the User role, prompts, the token limit, temperature, etc.

Include all facts about your comapny, include as many details as possible. These facts and case studies help the chatbot provide relevant information about what Live and Breathe Social does as an agency.

Responding to Comments

The second configuration in ChatGPT is to respond to comments on behalf of the digital marketing agency. The bot is programmed not to respond to harmful language and will only use facts when needed. For instance, if someone says "hello," the bot won't respond with a bunch of facts because it's not relevant to the context of the message.

Step 6: Testing the Chatbot

Initial Test

  • Go to Instagram to see the chatbot in action. From a different account, I commented "hello," and the bot responded with "Hello, how can we assist you?"
  • Ask more questions are to refine and finetune the answers.

Step 7: Live Demo

Posting a Comment

We have another post from the Live and Breathe Social account about AI automation at a conference in Singapore. I switched to a different profile to leave a comment, "hello," and the bot responded with, "Hello, how can we assist you today?"

Step 8: Setting Filters

Preventing Self-Conversation

One important aspect is ensuring the chatbot doesn't respond to itself. WThis prevents the bot from having an indefinite conversation with itself.

Keyword Filters

You can also use filters to reply to specific keywords. For example, if you're running a giveaway campaign, you can set the bot to respond to comments containing the word "giveaway." Conversely, you can set a rule not to respond to comments with the keyword "giveaway" to differentiate between general queries and campaign-specific interactions.

Conclusion

And that’s how you create an Instagram chatbot! If you found this tutorial helpful, please like, share, and subscribe. I’ll see you in the next video!

By following these steps, you can set up an Instagram chatbot to automate interactions with your followers, respond to comments, and deliver relevant information based on the context of their queries. This approach is versatile and can be adapted for other social media platforms, making it a powerful tool to enhance your digital marketing efforts.
