The Challenge

Our client chose Odoo to streamline their fragmented membership management system, previously reliant on multiple disconnected platforms. They aimed to boost community engagement and streamline operations across all digital tools. Their goals were to centralize member interactions, simplify event management, and integrate key services like AWS, Wiki, and Drive into one unified Odoo system.

However, they encountered several challenges:

  • Scattered systems: They faced inefficiencies from using multiple, separate systems to manage member data.
  • Lack of interaction platform: There was no effective platform for member engagement, limiting community interaction.
  • Single Sign-On (SSO) need: The client needed a single login that would grant users access to all platforms (Odoo, Wiki, Drive) without multiple logins, simplifying access and user management.
  • Communication shortfalls: The existing email system was incompatible with Sendgrid, complicating communications and lacking a newsletter subscription feature.
  • Blog migration: The client needs to migrate all existing blog content from WordPress, ensuring a smooth transition to the new platform without data loss or content disruption.
  • Event management difficulties: There was no efficient system for organizing events and managing participation.
  • Language barriers: The absence of language filters made it challenging to manage multilingual content.
  • Internal management inefficiencies: Inconsistent terminology and permissions in management settings led to confusion and inefficiencies, particularly with permissions allowing all users to edit tasks.

  • Enhanced member interaction: We upgraded Odoo to include features that support active member engagement and networking, turning it into a powerful community platform.
  • Single sign-on (SSO) integration: We used AWS Cognito to enable SSO, and AWS S3 for storage, allowing users to log into Odoo and access Wiki and Drive automatically, streamlining user management.
  • Communication improvements: We reconfigured the email system to work with Sendgrid and added a newsletter subscription feature to better connect with members.
  • Blog Migration: We developed custom code to migrate all blog content from WordPress to Odoo, ensuring a smooth and accurate transition.
  • Efficient event management: We developed a module within Odoo for organizing events that includes tools for managing invitations and tracking participants, which greatly improved event coordination.
  • Multilingual support: We introduced language filters in Odoo, making the platform user-friendly for a global audience and supporting content in multiple languages.
  • Streamlined internal processes: We standardized terms and permissions within Odoo to reduce confusion and streamline operations, especially in task management where we limited editing access to authorized users only.
