Housing problems grow in NYC
Housing problems grow in NYC after the arrival of 4000 new migrants in the last months. People demand human conditions and decent environment. But the reality is harsh even for the locals. The shelters are full to the top and the city is doing nothing to house the people permanently. They are not financially interested. Because the authorities are getting good financial help to deal with the crisis and to house homeless and asylum seekers in shelters, that actually helps keep these people homeless. Why they should place people permanently when can use the people as ransom for the next elections and for bigger donations.
The last excess happened when the authorities forcefully evicted the asylum seekers from the Watson hotel in NYC. They actually can evict anyone immediately from any shelter, without notice even. But it is not the same with the permanent housing. That is why they have interest to keep people in shelters, and to treat them as slaves. Because these asylum seekers have no permits to work in the city, have no money, have no even clothes. They are allowed to stay in this place today, the next day are kicked in the street. How a person can organize his life, find a job, create any family or healthy connections. No. They have no human rights. Not that the other locals in the shelters have any rights. This is slavery in action. You have no right to move, otherwise you can lose your spot in the shelter. Nobody is giving you permanent housing if you stay in a shelter, because the city vouchers are not acceptable nowhere. And the authorities are supporting the corrupt landlords and property managers providing them safety court umbrella to defend their rights, but not the rights of the people. And the governor even helped them with the taxes for the properties. The big property owners are the people that will pay for the campaigns.
Not the tenants. That is why the tenants rights are violated every single day. They moved these migrants from Watson hotel to place them in a 1000 people facility, with beds next to each other. Better place them in the federal jail in Brooklyn MDC, than in this Brooklyn Cruise Terminal. Just look at the terminal, it is surrounded by wire fence all over, like a penitentiary. And all these common spaces, without any privacy. This is not livestock, these are humans coming from the other part of the world to get into this hell. How this person can build his American dream. Better place them in MDC Brooklyn, the federal jail, or MCC Manhattan, the other federal jail in downtown. It is empty now because of inhumane conditions. But Brooklyn cruise terminal is worse building than MCC. And what are their chances of getting any job when transferred any day from this part of the city to another. Steering people is an action of directing a group of people to a specific area. That is unlawful practices in the real estate law in New York. But people are not equal in NYC. Against these hopeless asylum seekers is used the police force to forcefully steering them and forcefully evicting them, threatening with arrest. They are not humans. They are livestock for the authorities. And don't be surprised if tomorrow the crime spikes, and someone starts shooting at us. We have created that asylum, we, with our inaction and silence.
