But what about when your smartphone habits start to infringe on the people around you? What do you call it when the constant need to check your phone starts affecting the people you love?
James A. Roberts describes, in his new book Too Much of a Good Thing: Are You Addicted to Your Smartphone?, a phenomenon he aptly names phubbing, a distressing mix of the words "phone" and "snubbing."
We've all experienced phubbing. It's ruining all types of relationships, and it needs to be addressed. Just ask yourself,
Do you feel you are too attached to your device? Or do you put it away at dinners and get to-gethers? Or turn it off when you get home for family time?
