Have you ever received bad service?
I was in a restaurant recently and the service was pretty ordinary. I took the time to ask for the manager to give him the feedback and it was pretty obvious where the service standards had come from, he had no idea how to handle a complaint other than telling me how hard it was to find staff and to get them trained. All too often we promote the best waitress/waiter to management and all too often it is forgotten to give them the tools to do the job.

10yLisa you are so right in saying there is a lack of training and communication in Perth's hospitality industry. We have too many operators and far to few restauranteurs. We have lost the basic elements of service, replacing it with an indifference to the customers experience, and a feeling by owners that customers will pay what ever for their wares (& should be greatful for it) no matter the cost, level of service or dining experience.

10yAs a general view, whilst Perth is a beautiful city, service is not typically seen a key to success for a lot business, or maybe more specifically their employees. However I concur with comments already made that it is about the leaders in a business setting the expectations and managing the situation. We went to one of our favourite places last night, Lo Zucchero in City Beach and there the staff make the experience for all customers fantastic. Good team, with an obvious passion and level of engagement.

10ymore than once from all too many businesses. I struggle to remember the last time i received memorable service. I keep hearing the words of Seth Godin - ' when is the last time you remembered or referred a business that is mediocre'. In Perth there are plenty of businesses offering a service that is at best mediocre
