Grant 'Flamingo' Holloway - The final redemption
Ever heard of an athlete undefeated for 10 years? Well, some might mention Edwin Moses or the legend Carl Lewis. But what if I told you there's one already gearing up for the ultimate legacy? The athlete I talk about is none other than Grant Holloway. He's the man, the myth, the legend having a 9-year-long win streak, adding over 70+ wins under his name.
Grant turned pro in 2019, signing his first big deal with Adidas. He wanted to create history from his early college days, courtesy of his excellent runs. The 'Flamingo' had a unique vision compared to his rivals, and every hurdle he left behind continued to paint his story.
Years passed and Holloway remained unstoppable. Then one fine February evening of 2021, when the world was just walking out of COVID, he made track fans witness a masterpiece. The 60m hurdles record wiped into dust, falling straight into his belt. Apparently, the American had shattered Colin Jackson's 27-year-old world record of 7.30 s by one-hundredth of a second.
Since then, no athlete has ever dared to touch his time, let alone finish head-to-head in a nerve-bitting finish. But does that mean, he would never see a downfall? Well, debatable. Athletes like Hansle Parchment, Daniel Roberts, Shunsuke IZUMIYA, and more are constantly trying to break the curse, so it's all a game of time until we have a new hero keeping us at the edge of our seats from 0 to the finish line.
The real question lies -who will take the Paris Olympics crown?
