Future of the Internet
Future of the Internet
Firstly, we have to define what an Internet is. In the earliest iterations of it the Internet was just a telecommunications systems i.e. electronic communications. As this grew in sophistication it became faster and capable of storing more data electronically. When the electronic systems reached a level where they could translate themselves onto a screen we had the first computers. So this is what was needed to create the Computer Internet. Broadband and Telecoms were already well matured by that time.
So you can expect this trend to continue. For instance mobile devices are the next iteration of the Computer. Brain displays and Augmented Reality are also in development.
Beyond this we might be looking at super massive cloud displays, greater use of depth and perspective to communicate electronically, and also streamlined interfaces to make all of this much more accessible.

The Internet component of these is all thought to be possibly based on 5G systems with their high frequency where huge amounts of data can be passed quickly, however, the Super Massive Displays or Mobile Devices might need a different type of networking hardware and a distributed system. What I contend, however, is that the Internets will be based on the devices instead of spectrum. The Device can be equipped with a tuner for instance to navigate the spectrum, whereas the spectrum needs enabled listening devices to get access to the user. The point I am making is that it is much easier to connect to the spectrum and cost effective than it is for the spectrum to connect through devices.
In the future we will have many Device Networks. Tesla’s automated car-device network is a good example of this. These are a fleet of devices that drive cars. This could open up a ripe field of competition between auto manufacturers and also enable the eventual sale of better and more expensive on-board computers. Best to make the computer a customizable experience for the Driver and Car Owner.
In the distant future we will be requiring solar networking that uses stars as the base communication device and we should be able to tune stars themselves to open solar channels from star to star - the fact that we can see other stars at night implies we can reach them and they can reach us with light communications. We really only need a translator device that draws the energy from the sun and sends it out to another star or relay.
Just some possibilities!
