Focusing on what matters
International Women’s Day, celebrated annually on March 8th, is more than just a day of recognition—it is a global movement that honours the achievements of women, acknowledges the ongoing struggles for gender equality, and inspires action toward a more equitable future and focusing on what matters most in terms of Accelerating Action the theme for this year.
What I’ve learnt over time is that to Accelerating Action its more important to focus on taking small moves that are in my grasp today and doing them with great intention than it is to focus on making grand gestures, perfect plans and strategies. It’s about finding a door and an opening and then being bold enough and courageous enough to take one small towards it, and then another step and another step. Step by step, moving towards the opportunities and openings that are available to you in that moment and working with what is.
How do you recognize these metaphorical doors or openings? This is what I have come to learn.
International Women’s Day is a celebration — but also a reminder that progress happens when we all show up, support each other, and work together to build a more inclusive future.
