FireSat’s First Launch – A Milestone for Wildfire Detection

We are thrilled to announce that the FireSat protoflight satellite successfully launched on the SpaceX Transporter-13 mission Friday night and deployed early Saturday morning. Within 30 minutes of separation, Muon Space established first contact, downlinking health-and-safety telemetry - all systems are nominal. We’ve completed post-launch OTA software updates and full spacecraft commissioning is now underway.

This launch marks a critical milestone for FireSat, the first dedicated constellation designed to revolutionize global wildfire detection and response. Once fully deployed FireSat will provide near real-time, persistent monitoring of fire activity worldwide, enabling faster response times, reducing destruction, and ultimately protecting lives and ecosystems.

Earlier this week, NBC News spotlighted the FireSat constellation, emphasizing its potential to tackle the escalating wildfire crisis. It was a fantastic experience collaborating with the NBC team and our incredible partners—Google Research, the Earth Fire Alliance, and the Gordon and Betty Moore Foundation—to share this groundbreaking technology. Stay tuned for more updates as we bring FireSat online!
