Employee Spotlight: Cindy Gotham
Cindy Gotham, CIC is the Senior Vice President of Commercial Lines for HUB Florida where she leads a team of 80+ employees, across 10 offices, in the retention and service of our Commercial Clients. Her continual focus on team skill development, book balancing, capacity management, standardized workflows, and integration of new offices and teams through mergers and acquisitions has allowed her to respond to the varying service demands of 8,000+ clients. Cindy leads the Florida commercial service team with the support of five commercial lines department managers in the state.
Cindy began her career in insurance in August 1997 as a receptionist in Ft. Myers, Florida for a local family-owned agency. In 2008, she joined Kuykendall Gardner, LLC (who would later join Hub) as a Commercial Lines Account Manager. She was promoted to Commercial Lines Manager of the Winter Park office in October 2014, and three years later she was promoted to Director of Commercial Lines for HUB Florida. Cindy is originally from Carrizo Springs, TX and migrated with her parents to Immokalee, FL in 1980. Her father was a migrant worker and her mother a Teacher's assistant. They spent 5 years there before moving to Lehigh Acres, Florida to provide better opportunities for Cindy and her siblings. Her parents were role models who molded and raised a hardworking individual with aspirations to be successful in all that she did. Gaining the opportunity for a better life meant pursuing things that were difficult yet attainable. Cindy learned to seek out opportunities to demonstrate her strengths and character through action, always preferring to show others what she can do versus tell them. Through that work ethic and determination to demonstrate her value and abilities, Cindy earned the responsibility and honor of leadership early on when she was named Captain of her Volleyball JV team during her sophomore year and again as a senior on the Varsity team, in addition to earning the position of Editor in Chief of the Yearbook Staff.
Cindy is proud of her journey and that of her parents, and attributes those sacrifices and lessons to who she is today; a person who is strong yet kind, honest yet considerate and confident yet humble. Cindy now lives in Clermont, Florida with her Husband Jeff, her 17- year-old son Jeffrey and her dog Molly.
Getting to know Cindy:
Q: What do you look forward to most in your day?
A: The one thing I look forward to everyday is creating career opportunities for others like I had when I first started. In every role I’ve had, I had someone who had faith in me, someone willing to give me a chance so long as I gave 110% and that’s one thing I hope to give back as we grow and develop our team across the state.
Q: What accomplishment are you most proud of?
A: I played the Violin for 8 years as a child. Those years taught me discipline, patience, respect and grace. I worked hard those years to make First Chair and accomplished it several times. It was rewarding to be challenged, compete and hold my own against the best musicians. Now my biggest goal in life is to pick up the violin again and play, even if it is to the tune of Mary Had a Little Lamb!
