Driving Innovation: GIC Explores New Pathways for Collaboration

This month, the Global Impact Coalition (GIC) held our Q1 ideation session with support from Boston Consulting Group (BCG) , bringing together around 30 executives from GIC member companies—including BASF , SABIC , Clariant , Covestro , LG Chem , LyondellBasell , Mitsubishi Chemical Group , Syensqo and SUEZ —at BCG’s Frankfurt offices. After weeks of insight gathering, member interviews, and focused preparation, the session was a deep dive into brainstorming, ideation, and concept pitches. With 14 potential ideas emerging, the next step is to prioritize the most promising opportunities to develop into new working groups.

This month GIC also held several in-person working group sprints and had a strong presence at several key industry events—the World Petrochemicals Conference (#WPC2025) by S&P Global in Houston, the International Automotive Recycling Congress (#IARC25) by ICM AG in Antwerp, and the Economist Impact Sustainability Week in London—where GIC leaders contributed to discussions on the critical elements needed to advance plastic circularity and low-carbon chemicals.

Stay tuned for more project updates as we refine new working group ideas and continue driving cross-sector collaboration forward!

Growing upstream: GIC welcomes Moeve

March was also a milestone month for GIC as we welcomed a new member: Moeve, formerly known as Cepsa. As a global energy leader, Moeve is dedicated to advancing sustainable solutions across energy, chemicals, and mobility. This partnership reinforces the importance of cross-sector collaboration in developing sustainable and commercially viable solutions to reduce emissions across the chemical industry, accelerating the transition to a circular and low-carbon economy.
