Does your LinkedIn profile stand out ??

If YES, go ahead and celebrate because you are likely to be in the Top 5% among all the users. If No, then this write-up is for "YOU"

Everyone aspires for great job/work/networking opportunities but the million dollar question is : Does your profile has the basic elements of an attractive professional LinkedIn profile?

Here are few important tips to make your profile stand out.

Professional picture:

A professional picture makes your profile 14 times more likely to be viewed by others (Source LinkedIn). There are too many LinkedIn members who don’t even have a profile photo.

Having an appropriate profile picture not only makes the whole experience real between you and other members. Hiring managers and potential connections always give weight-age to the one with an appropriate professional picture and the former even prefer using it as a first filter, No profile photo? You’re ignored, before one even get the chance to get connected.

Summary statement:

Don’t underestimate the power of a box looking so common because it could bring you closer to very unique opportunities which yours friends / peers will be dreaming of. Write at least 3-4 points which should highlight about WHO you are and WHY anyone should submit his/her interest in you. Summary statement at LinkedIn is equivalent to opening paragraph of a cover-letter. This is the best window to showcase your skill-set and competencies; decorate your profile with a decent summary. Ensure to remain precise and concise about your experience, qualifications and your aspirations (goals).

Work-experience:

Most of the users lack proper and relevant details about their work experience and thus cut down the chances of being approached by the right person by a high degree. Make your profile compelling by listing down all the jobs (past and current) with role, involvement and accomplishments. I am sure after reading till here lots of people who are more or less fresher in the professional world will get anxious. The paradox – “You can’t get the job without the experience but you can’t get the experience without the job” always haunt them if they’ll be able to make a place for them. My advice to them is to list down the experience earned during Internships and do it smartly.

Caution: All you need to keep in mind is that you are not sharing any critical or confidential details which could invite any sort of trouble.
