Falmouth Town Council

Cultural Services Director

Salary: £36,371 to £39,571 (job evaluation pending) 37 hrs per week

Falmouth Town Council is a dynamic modern local authority with a vibrant cultural offering; we have achieved national recognition for our achievements and services, including the internationally renowned Falmouth Art Gallery. We are consistently at the forefront on issues such as involving the community in influencing our decisions, partnership working and placing sustainability at the heart of everything that we do.

This is an exciting time to join our evolving organisation as Cultural Services Director and offers a unique opportunity to further your career, whilst contributing to the local community and Falmouth’s rich cultural tapestry.

For us, culture is what we do and how we do it – as individuals, groups and collectively. Our culture is the values we hold; it is what we have in common and what sets us apart. It comes from our history and heritage and our hopes and plans for the future. Falmouth Town Council’s Fal Culture Team aims to share knowledge, celebrate heritage and promote creativity and wellbeing through activities and events for the community.

As our new Cultural Services Director, you will bring strong leadership experience and capabilities to oversee the direction and management of your team, who in turn manage:

·      Falmouth Art Gallery

·      Falmouth Library and Information Service

·      Youth Services at the Dracaena Centre

Our ambition for cultural services is to see a redevelopment and rationalisation of the Passmore Edwards Building, the home of the Gallery and Library, extending our galleries as a capital build to create a truly suitable and accessible display venue for the Town’s collection. Our new Director will be instrumental in progressing that project to re-evaluate the service and its funding, possessing the skills and experience required to realise that ambition.

Falmouth is special, our Cultural Services and art collection are unique and special, and we need a special person for this role.
