Positive leadership behaviors can contribute to creating a supportive and thriving work environment. Here are some behaviors for each category: This will "engage" employees more. You see, your original question targets employee behaviors, but it starts with great leadership! Unfortunately, I still see 1920's leadership style (AUTHORITATIVE vs PARTICIPATIVE Leadership

Esteem:

Recognition and Appreciation: Acknowledge and praise employees for their achievements and hard work.

Encouragement: Provide positive feedback and motivate employees to reach their full potential.

Opportunities for Growth: Support professional development and offer opportunities for skill enhancement and career advancement.

Empathy:

Active Listening: Pay close attention to employees' concerns and ideas, demonstrating that their opinions matter.

Understanding Personal Challenges: Be aware of and considerate about the personal challenges employees may face.

Open Communication: Foster an environment where employees feel comfortable sharing their thoughts and concerns without fear of judgment.

Involvement:

Team Collaboration: Encourage collaboration and team-building activities to strengthen relationships among team members.

Inclusive Decision-Making: Involve employees in decision-making processes that affect them, making them feel valued.

Regular Check-Ins: Conduct regular one-on-one meetings to discuss progress, challenges, and goals, fostering a sense of involvement.

Sharing:

Transparent Communication: Share relevant information about the company's goals, performance, and future plans.

Knowledge Sharing: Encourage employees to share their expertise and ideas with the team, promoting a culture of continuous learning.

Feedback Loop: Provide constructive feedback and encourage employees to share their feedback on processes and leadership.

Supporting Employees:

Resource Allocation: Ensure employees have the necessary resources and tools to perform their jobs effectively.

Work-Life Balance: Promote a healthy work-life balance by respecting personal time and avoiding excessive workload.

Problem Solving Assistance: Offer support in overcoming challenges, providing guidance and resources as needed.

By consistently demonstrating these positive leadership behaviors, both C-suite and middle management leaders can contribute to a workplace culture that values and supports employees, ultimately enhancing their engagement through esteem, empathy, involvement, sharing, and overall well-being.
