Covid 19 or Kubis 19

The world is changing... things are happening beyond our control. People's lives are being lost (even though they may be the elderly but lives are still being lost. People have been told to work with flexible timing to to working from home to thank you very much for your service, you can now stay at home. Children and healthy people are falling sick and we seem to be infecting others (in Asia this is the common cough and cold) but now it is a pandemic. This challenge has no borders.

What do we do? Here are my 2 cents worth... Firstly, lets "Take a Knee". Lets spend some time in prayer (meditation or whatever you may call it. No need lah for petty squabbles). Lets bring ourselves to the table of gratitude and thank God for all that we have. It may not be much (and sometimes it feels like we have nothing) but still lets be thankful for life, love and friendship. I guess this lesson from Covid 19 is to be conscious of weather we are givers or takers ( I speak for myself, I have been taking). We have been taking in greed and the earth is telling us enough is enough. The feedback over the last few years is "take and there will be consequences" (John Wick - The Movies) Now lets heed the message and be thankful for all that we have. Lets ask for forgiveness from each other. Forgiveness for not caring, not loving, closing a blind eye, for not listening. Lets us have gratitude be our healing in this process (and it is going to be a long process).

Next, Malaysia (Malaysians) can't live as if we are safe from the outside world. Nothing can harm (or reach our shores). It has arrived. We thought that we would not experience earthquakes (and I did in Penang a few years ago). Who ever thought that we would experience a Tsunami and we did. We thought we can escape the viruses that attacked the world and today (NOW) Covid 19 is here. It has entered our home. We cannot put our heads in the sand and expect that things will get better. NO! As MALAYSIANS we need to stand up and take action to save our Country and our Families. What does this mean to us? We (Fathers and Mothers, young adults, uncles and aunties) have to model the way and be the leaders we were meant to be. Leaders in basic hygiene. Leaders in challenging our government to go the extra mile. Yes we had a speech given yesterday with some actions. Thank you for it. But is that all we can do? What can we do the Small & Medium businesses that right now is talking about closing down (this is an actual conversation). What can we do for that business whose workers are losing their jobs and these workers have to go back to their families and say " I have no idea how to put food on the table, let alone pay rent". How Malaysia? macam mana? Can we do more (and I believe now is the time to do more). I believe we can.

Now is the time to stand along side our brothers and sisters (not just in our country) but around the world. Stand along side them and support them to get through this time. Lets grow our kubis and share it with the world. At this time we have all the resources at our finger tips. We have the capability to travel the world at the speed of our broadband and give a simple message of love, hope and encouragement. Some frie.nds of mine are willing to postpone their weddings to a later date (and they are still in love :)). Some are willing to give up their sleep at night to be with a person in a different time zone and offer counsel and advise in business. I can see that woman reaching out to a group of business women and coaching them to start and grow their business. She is even writing her book in a trying time like this. A book to lead and inspire other women to be bigger than their circumstances. I see her husband reaching out and healing a world that is sick and dying with not a thank you or appreciation. There is a woman who is reaching out to people to create an awareness of sustainability and bringing people together for the greater good. I think at a time like this the world does not require kings and queens but HEROs. A king may fight for his kingdom but a HERO fights for the people (Aquaman, the Movie). So stand along side your brothers and sisters and give them your hand. Lets help each other not just get through this, but let this be a story of hope and inspiration for our young people in the days to come. Lets leave them a legacy that we all can be proud of.

This is just my thoughts on how we can 19. What is this Covid 19. How? By growing our Kobis 19. What is Kobis? It's cabbage. A vegetable that the whole world eats. And therefore this is something we can share. What is your Kobis/cabbage? Maybe its your skills in Science and Medicine (God bless their souls), Maybe its being a coach and trainer, maybe a teacher, maybe a politician, maybe an accountant... whatever it is the world NEEDS you NOW. Lets just share and help each other to build a better world.
