5moGreat article. No doubt that the gut is the second brain! Housing trillions of microbes that enable so many functions in the body, it's truly incredible. I do wonder, as there's limited research and conflicting thought processes-- how much (if any) serotonin actually crosses the blood brain barrier? We know serotonin is so much more than a mood enhancer, it's involved in pain management and gut motility, among other things.
