The CHOICE of Fear
I hadn't traveled alone internationally in 30+ years! Like, as in airplanes and bus schedules and unfamiliar cultures and two tiny bags for packing hugely diverse event- and weather-appropriate clothing.
I can't even list the countless things I was afraid of as I got ready for my Ireland-then-Iceland trip a couple of weeks ago.
Not to mention the fears that came up during countless moments along the way, during the trip.
And I must have asked myself countless times...
Why did I even choose to take this trip in the first place?
Why DO we do the things we're afraid of? Wouldn't it be easier just to stay home, avoid, hide, forget, shrink?
Nope.

In the end, a life lived in fear is a life unfulfilled. My trip to Ireland-then-Iceland was AMAZINGLY creatively fulfilling, AND I've gotten at least one new song out of it.

There's a reason I was able to take that trip despite my countless fears. "The Last Veil", a music video from my 2023 Fox Moon EP, tells the story of a crucial commitment I made several years ago, inspired by the goddess Inanna, to face ALL my fears (eventually).
Ever since, I've made the same choice as the goddess, to practice facing my fears with intention and clarity...
