CHEF-GPT, Where The "I" in "AI" Stands for "Ingredients"

CHEF-GPT, Where The "I" in "AI" Stands for "Ingredients"

ChatGPT is a content generation tool driven by the world's most impressive AI model. When I asked ChatGPT to describe itself, it said:

"I’d describe myself as an insightful and versatile assistant, ready to adapt to your needs. I'm here to help you solve problems, spark creativity, and navigate a wide range of topics—from practical day-to-day tasks to more abstract or complex challenges." - ChatGPT

I for one, could not agree more!

I've used it to help me complete projects for school (research quickly, proof read, spice things up, etc...) I've used it to help me compose music for a GUR class. Summarize passages of text to make them more digestible. Essentially allowing me to speed things up and make me more productive.

I asked ChatGPT what it was most commonly used for, and it told me the following: "Common uses for ChatGPT include creative assistance with generating ideas, generating code, education & tutoring, and help writing content such as blogs, emails, and other tedious activities."

I've now graduated from Western Washington University. However, when I was attending university, I was living off pocket change, Red Bull, and few hours of sleep. I've found it hard to find the time to eat, much less to find the time to even think about what I'm going to eat. Despite not knowing what to eat, I love to cook! I love to try new recipes, and work on innovating/perfecting old ones. While my brain was occupied with my school work, I still wanted to keep my desire of culinary exploration alive. That was when I decided to have ChatGPT plan my meals for me!

AI Prompting a Chef

Here's how I would do it.

'AI prompting' is when you tell an AI to do something. You can tell it do your homework, you can ask it generate a picture, you can ask it do anything! For me, I asked it to come up with recipes. I have found that you should prompt your AI specific ways to generate the best results. Typically, you should start off with setting the scene for the AI. Give it some background knowledge so it understands the limits it should place on itself, and the context to give you what you want. Then, fire away if your question. Try to be as specific as possible when asking your question. Otherwise, that you may end up with some generic BS. The BS normally works, but it won't lead to a satisfying result.

Being a college student who has to share refrigerator space with roommates. I didn't have much in the way my own of ingredients to work with. To help give ChatGPT some direction I would tell it something like the follow:

"I'm looking to make a meal with a chicken base, give me a recipe and ingredients list of something healthy, full of protein, out of other ingredients like red and green peppers."

Putting the same prompt into ChatGPT, this is what it would come up with:

It's fresh, it's cheap, and it's convenient! My favorite part about this, is that it completely eliminates the bombardment of ads and endless scrolling you have to do on those cooking blogs that show up when you try to search a recipe online.

A Meal Fit For a King (You!)

You can create whatever recipe you like! With ChatGPT, I've gotten into making hot sauce from scratch, and making foods from other cultures like dumplings and gyoza. I've even gotten it to make cocktail recipes for me!

Now, let's say that you have a dietary restriction, like allergic to onion or garlic. That's okay! You can ask ChatGPT to remove or substitute the ingredients for something else, or state that in the beginning, and it will remain cognizant of your allergy when giving you recipes in the future.

I love when people ask me how I utilize AI, because I get to tell them what I've just told you. It takes all the guess work out of that impossible to answer question: "What am I going to eat today?"

So, next time you're thinking, "What other purpose can I use AI for?" or "What will I have for dinner tonight?" Turn your attention to master chef, ChatGPT, and try a recipe designed specifically to your taste!
