ChatGPT Cheat Sheet: How to Get the Best Out of Me

ChatGPT Cheat Sheet: How to Get the Best Out of Me

If you're using ChatGPT (or thinking about using it more), here’s a cheat sheet — straight from ChatGPT’s point of view — on how to get the best and most efficient results.

Whether you're writing, brainstorming, strategizing, or just thinking things out loud, here’s how to make the magic happen:

1. Be Clear About Your Goal

Tell me the end result you're aiming for. For example:

  • “I want a professional LinkedIn post.”
  • “I want a casual Instagram caption.”
  • “I want a brainstorm of ideas.”
  • “I want it to sound more human and conversational.”

The more specific you are, the faster (and better) I can help. And if you’re unsure? Just say, “Can you give me a few options?” — I’ll flex with you.

2. Give Me a Vibe or a Style

Let me know the tone you're after:

  • Professional?
  • Friendly?
  • Punchy?
  • Academic?
  • Playful?
  • Witty?

You can even say, “Make it feel exciting but not overhyped” — short style prompts like this really help me match the energy you're looking for.

3. Start Rough If You Need To

You don’t need to be polished to start working with me. Send me rough drafts, bullet points, brain dumps — even a half-formed idea. If you're feeling stuck, just tell me what you're trying to say, and I’ll help craft it into something clear and impactful.

4. Use Iterations – It Makes Us a Team

Treat the first version I send you as Version 1. Refinements and feedback like: → “Can you make this even tighter?” → “Can you reword this to sound a bit more casual?” → “This is good — can you punch up the CTA?”

…make the final result even stronger. The more we iterate, the better it gets!

5. Context is Gold

A little background goes a long way. Tell me:

  • Who is the audience?
  • What platform is it for (LinkedIn? Instagram? Email?)
  • Is it promoting something, informing, inviting, or inspiring?

This helps me customize your content so it resonates exactly where you need it to.

6. You Can Ask for Formats, Too

Need your content in a specific format?

  • Bullet points
  • Table
  • Email draft
  • Instagram caption
  • LinkedIn article

Just tell me! I can format it so it’s super easy for you to copy, paste, and use immediately.

7. Honesty Is Appreciated

If you don’t like something, say it. (I promise — I don't take it personally.) I’m here to tweak, polish, and revise until it’s exactly right for you.

Quickfire Prompts That Work Really Well:

  • "Can you make this shorter but still sound professional?"
  • "Can you give me 3 different tone options?"
  • "Can you write this for [audience] and [platform]?"
  • "Can you make this sound more exciting without being over the top?"
  • "Can you tidy this up but keep the original meaning?"

Bonus Tip:

Working with me is like having a really fast, friendly co-writer and editor — one who never gets tired! The more we "think out loud" together, the better (and faster) the magic happens.
